I had the honor of making my friend Matthew Mather's 40th Birthday cake. I convinced his best friend Rob that it would be a great idea to have a cake which would be made up of all of Matt's favorite things. I made a 3 tier chocolate mouse cake, covered in chocolate buttercream and fondant. I had my new find (named Rachel) make up the sculpted pieces. One was of Matt as a child fishing and the other was of Matt conquering Mt. Everest (which he hopes to do next year).
Some pieces which I included on the cake:
Books (he introduced me to Paulo Coelho-The Alchemist, for which I am so greatful)
Flags and airplane which represent his travels from his birth home (England) to his current home (Canada)
Canoe
Surfboard
A picture of Matt finishing his 1st marathon
A picture of Matt and his girlfriend Yulia and a picture of their rescue dog Layla, a red nose pitbull
His accomplished business startups
McGill University Engineering - where he worked hard and played even harder
Happy Birthday Matt.
